Students: Meet your Engineering Council

UCEC executive team with Chip
You may have seen them tabling in the Engineering Center lobby or at Engineering Immersion. They’re the University of ֱ Engineering Council (UCEC), and they are here for you!

One of the UCEC’s key roles is to organize college-wide undergraduate student activities, bringing students together to learn, connect, and have fun.

The UCEC consists of an elected  board of executives and board of directors. The board of executives team is the president, vice president, and two ֱSG senators. The board of directors are chairs for each committee, such as student organization, student engagement, graphics and media, Engineering Week and two co-chairs for freshman engineering council. These elected representatives come from student professional and honorary societies, including interested engineering students who want to serve in this capacity.

The council meets bi-weekly to allocate resource fees to student organizations and to plan community events. They are committed to enriching the student experience outside the classroom and amplifying the mission of the college for the students. They serve as the bridge of communication that represents the interests of all engineering students.

“We have a mix of student and government leadership,” said Tanvi Gopalabhatla, UCEC vice president. “We feed off of the students' energy and adapt to what they need. We're kind of a unique council in that way and that we're not purely government. We try to figure out what students actually need nowadays in their community, and we're trying to gauge whether that's like holding small events, picking up their days and things like that.”

All UCEC member positions are currently open, and interested engineering students are encouraged to apply. Visit the UCEC member page for more information. ֱ Student Government (ֱSG) is also seeking applicants for their executive cabinet team for fall 2022.
