ֱ Boulder Wins 2021 Solar Decathlon Build Challenge
From April 15-18, the ֱ Boulder team, which included several engineering undergrad and graduate students, competed in this biennial collegiate competition against nine other teams from the U.S., the Netherlands, Chile and Canada.This is the third time ֱ Boulder has placed first in the highly competitive event.

Staff Future of Work Survey Debrief
Thank you to everyone who shared your feedback in the campus HR survey on the Future of Work at ֱ Boulder. Over the next few weeks,Senior Director of Engineering HRAlisha Bennett Stewartwill be attending unit meetings to share survey results and information on forthcoming guidance from the college.
Most meetings fall during regularly scheduled unit staff meetings.If you are unsure when your unit is scheduled, please email Alisha Bennett Stewart.If you miss your unit’s meeting, all are welcome to attend the following sessions:

Faculty and Staff Awards
- Ryan Hayward of chemical and biological engineering received a three-year, $460,700 award from the National Science Foundation for “Ionoelastomer Heterojunctions at the Micro- and Nano-Scale.”
- Katherine McConnell, senior professional development advisor for Rady Mechanical Engineering, has won a 2021 Marinus Smith Award from New Student and Family Programs. She was nominated by students Graham Blanco and Andrew Starr, who said, “Kat is one of the most helpful and communicative faculty I have interacted with in the Mechanical Engineering department...I am constantly inspired by her hard work and dedication to promoting professional growth in the Mechanical Engineering department...She excels at her job and genuinely cares about the success of students."
- Evan Thomas and Karl Linden from the Mortenson Center received a five-year, $3.5 million award from Chemonics International (USAID) for “USAID/DRC Accelerating Peri-Urban Water and Sanitation Services in Kasai Oriental and Lomami Provinces DRC WASH.”
