All 蜜糖直播 Engineering faculty, staff and families are invited to an in-person stroll around 聽at 9 a.m. Oct.聽24!聽

Are you really wanting to see your colleagues in 3D, but at a safe distance? Join the Engineering Social Club for an outing to the聽 in Denver.聽The Arsenal is a beautiful area with many walking trails (that can be combined for good distances for Flat Fourteeners). The trails are spread over wetlands, grasslands聽and woodlands, and you鈥檒l see wildlife like resident and migrating birds, deer, prairie dogs聽and -- if you鈥檙e lucky --聽coyotes and the bison herd that lives there.聽Join us to walk some trails, and finish off your visit driving the Wildlife Drive,聽a one-way loop where you are most likely to see the bison herd.

Please RSVP to help us keep track of who is interested in this type of event.聽

Details

The Arsenal Refuge is located just off of I-270 northeast of Denver. It is easy to access from any of the cities along Hwy. 36 and anywhere in the Metro Denver area.聽The plan is:聽

  • Meet at 9 a.m. at the main parking area near the Visitor Center (sadly, it and the Black-Footed Ferret exhibit are closed).聽
  • Spend a while reveling in the experience of seeing the three-dimensional versions of our friends and colleagues!
  • Find someone you don鈥檛 know and, from 6 feet apart, introduce yourself! Decide to go to a trail or two.聽
  • Drive your own car to the trail鈥檚 parking area (please don鈥檛 carpool).
  • Take a stroll! Then go to a different trail and stroll there! It鈥檚 that kind of park.

Helpful Hints

  • You must wear a face covering!聽
  • Print the trail map before you come (if you can). Their website聽says they have them available,聽but better safe than sorry since the Visitor Center is closed.
  • Bring some sort of 鈥淗ello, My Name Is鈥 item.聽Most of us have old meeting badges with lanyards lying around -- let鈥檚 repurpose those suckers!聽
  • The refuge is stroller-friendly! But not pet-friendly聽-- service animals only.
