Kyle's research uses anthropological and philosophical lenses to examine the intersection of the purposes of education, pedagogy, and critical theory. His current dissertation project, funded by a Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship, is an ethnographic study of how teachers at an international school in Central America seek to educate across cultural and political difference.

Kyle has taught numerous sections of EDUC 3013: School & Society and EDUC 4330/5330: Social Studies Methods at ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Boulder. Before his doctoral studies, he taught high school social studies in Quito, Ecuador. He holds a master's degree in Secondary Education from Peabody College at Vanderbilt University and a bachelor's degree in History from Auburn University.
