Lee is a PhD candidate at the University of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ in Boulder studying food systems and environmental education. His research efforts focus on the power of community engagement and cross-cultural exchange to support grassroots empowerment towards a more harmonious social-ecological world. After completing his PhD he will pursue transboundary collaboration and educational work full-time.

ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ the Project:

To better understand the role of participation in food relief and rescue we ask, Can a food rescue organization support stakeholder empowerment through participation in food security and decision-making, and if so, how? To answer this question, I will engage in a community-based research case study with Boulder Food Rescue (BFR), a local food relief organization in Boulder, ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥. In answering this question, our aim is to understand community participation in this urban food security context, and to identify practices that may support future food relief decision-making efforts
