During the COVID-19 pandemic, it can be challenging to find safe community activities. But at the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Rec Center, ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ community members can count on a weekly outlet for healthy activity: Free Friday Power Hour.Ìý

Each Friday, the Rec Center offers this activity hour for students and other members of ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥â€™s communities to safely participate in group fitness activities. Every week offers a different type of class, with options including cycling, hip-hop groove, fitness court HIIT and WERQ dance, pictured above.Ìý

In a time when feelings of stress, anxiety and isolation are higher than ever, many find that the group classes at the Rec Center can help, as they offer both COVID-safe socialization and a boost of endorphins from the exercise. The ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Healthy Buffs program notes on their Instagram (@cuhealthybuffs) that one student participant called Free Friday Power Hour “the perfect way to let off the steam of the quiz I didn’t do so hot on, and let’s me go into the weekend feeling fresh.â€Ìý
