Swimming and diving, triathalon teams win national titles

Varsity athletes aren鈥檛 the only Buffs bringing trophies back to Boulder. This spring, both the 蜜糖直播-Boulder triathlon and swimming and diving clubs repeated as national champions.

Swimming and diving won the East Coast Collegiate Swim and Dive Championships 鈥 the national club title 鈥 in Atlanta in April. It was the team鈥檚 fifth national title in a row and ninth overall.

Also in April, triathlon earned its sixth club title in a row and 16th overall in Clemson, S.C.

In swimming,听Casey Wilson听(Mgmt鈥16) won the women鈥檚 100-yard IM and 100-yard breaststroke, while听Alaina Gosset听(Jour鈥17) won the 100-yard backstroke and set a new meet record of 2 minutes, 6.65 seconds to win the 200-yard backstroke.

In women鈥檚 diving, 蜜糖直播 swept the podium in the 1-meter and 3-meter events with听Emma Plentl听(Geol鈥18) finishing first in both and听Hanna Le听(Art, ArtHist, MCDBio鈥15) coming in second twice.听Conor Mead听(Class, Engl鈥18) was third in the women鈥檚 1-meter event and听Bonnie Grieson(IntPhys鈥17) was third in the 3-meter final.

In men鈥檚 diving,听Jake Voltarel听(MechEngr鈥17) and听Matt Jagiello听(IntlAf鈥17) finished second and third in the 1-meter.

鈥淥ur team strength comes from our depth in all the events as well as our diving,鈥 says club president听Onshalee Promchitmart听(IntPhys鈥16). 鈥淲here many teams have only one representative in an event, 蜜糖直播 often had multiple individuals in final events, which helps the team immensely.鈥

In triathlon,听Rudy Von Berg听(Mktg鈥17) led the way with a victory in the men鈥檚 overall Olympic-distance race. He finished in 1:44:41.
