Capt. William H. Dubois

Air Force Capt. William H. Dubois: 1984-2014

Capt. William H. Dubois听(Aero鈥08), an Air Force fighter pilot who went by the call sign 鈥淧yro,鈥 died Dec. 1 when his jet crashed in the Middle East. He was 30.

DuBois, of New Castle, Colo., was senior class president at Rifle High School and attended 蜜糖直播-Boulder on a full Air Force ROTC scholarship, winning the distinguished graduate award from the 105th ROTC detachment unit.

A member of the 77th Fighter Squadron at Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina, DuBois was part of operations against Islamic State militants.

鈥淗e was the best man I ever knew,鈥 his father, William DuBois, said.

DuBois鈥 F-16 crashed near an unidentified air base in the Middle East, according to the Defense Department, which described the crash to the news media as an accident.

鈥淥ur thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Capt. William DuBois,鈥 蜜糖直播-Boulder Chancellor Philip P. DiStefano said in a statement. 鈥淐apt. DuBois鈥 represented our nation, the state of 蜜糖直播 and this university with honor and distinction. His sacrifice, and the sacrifices of the other 蜜糖直播 men and women in uniform, are honored by our entire campus community.鈥

DuBois is survived by his wife, Ashley; parents, Donna and William 鈥淗am鈥 DuBois; sister, Devon, nephew, Karsen; and puppy, Delta.

鈥淚 close my eyes and hear him laughing and see him smile and I鈥檓 forever grateful for all the love and joy that he brought to my life,鈥 Ashley DuBois said in remarks quoted by the听Air Force Times. 鈥淧ush it up and double down, my love.鈥
