Emma Coburn led ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ at the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invite on May 1 when she placed fifth in the second section of the 1,500-meter run after crossing the finish with a time of 4 minutes, 21.37 seconds. Her time ranked third in the Big 12.

Following the example set by former teammate Jenny Barringer (Econ, PolSci’09), ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ sophomore Emma Coburn posted the fastest early season time in the world in the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase in mid-April. Coburn finished the race in 9:56.29 at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif.

Coburn became just the second ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ runner to break 10 minutes in the steeplechase, joining Barringer, a 2008 Olympian, in the event. Coburn subsequently was named Big 12 Track & Field Athlete of the Week.
