Professor Chris Bowman Inducted into National Academy of Inventors
Distinguished Professor Christopher Bowman officially joined the National Academy of Inventors in a ceremony April 6 in Boston.
He was among 175 fellows inducted into the academy this year and the second from the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Boulder Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering to receive the honor.
Also inducted this year from ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Boulder was Leslie Leinwand, chief scientific officer of the BioFrontiers Institute and professor in the Department of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology.
The National Academy of Inventors recognizes academic innovators whose work makes a tangible impact on quality of life, economic development and the welfare of society. The NAI fellows membership includes 382 members of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine and 28 Nobel Laureates, among other distinctions. Collectively, the fellows hold more than 26,000 issued U.S. patents.
Bowman joined the department in 1992 and holds the James and Catherine Patten Endowed Chair.
