Catalog Description

Examines music and social elements, rules, and concepts that musicians use to structure and synthesize musical sound, with emphasis on music practices and pedagogies from a variety of world traditions; observing shared principles and making cross-cultural comparisons and investigating a shared (not universal) discourse as well as resources for a new pedagogy that supports the substantive study of global musics. Recommended prereqs., MUSC 2772 or 2782 or 4112. Same as MUSC 5168. Requisites: Restricted to students with 57-180 credits (Junior or Senior) College of Music (MUSÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥) majors only.
